Caption Practice Vocabulary

Caption #1

Who: President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama

What: embrace

Where: on the tarmac of the davenport Iowa Airport

When: August 15, 2012 (Wednesday)

Why: they missed each other after being apart for three weeks

How: Warmly, Lovingy

Background: After embracing Michelle on the tarmac, President Obama tripped and fell and bruised his face.


Sentence #1: Verb? Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama warmly embrace each other on the tarmac of the Davenport Iowa Airport on Wednesday.

Sentence #2: Verb? The Obamas had not seen each other in three weeks and missed each other.

Sentence 2: The songs video, which has received more than a billion hits on YouTube, features a horse riding dance, a cowboy dancer in an elevator and lots of dancing women.

Why: Because he wants to break the world record

How: with a lot of protective gear

Background: He is a pilot from Austria. He is trying to make the highest jump ever.

Sentence 1: Felix makes a jump, and it could be his last.

Sentence 2: Felix makes a historic jump on Saturday.

Vocabulary

Depth of field: the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene acceptably sharp in an image

Light: element that makes things visible

Shadows: a dark area or shaw produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface

Diffusion: a refraction of light or an erratic display of light passing through an element 

Exposure: the amount of light allowed to fall on each area of a photograph

Aperture: the opening that allows light to pass throughout a lends and reach the camera sensor

Shutter speed: the length of times to shutter of the camera is open 

ISO: The sensitivity of the light to the camera's sensor.
